Nyaxia Series Review: The Serpent and the Wings of Night & The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King
Book 1 – The Serpent and the Wings of Night
This first book swept me into a world of shadows, blood, and impossible choices. We follow Oraya, a human girl raised in a vampire world, and adopted by the terrifyingly powerful vampire king, Vincent. To survive in a society that sees her as prey, Oraya joins the Kejari — a deadly competition hosted by the goddess Nyaxia herself. It’s bloody, it’s brutal, and it’s all about proving your worth.
And then enters Raihn — the infuriating, charming vampire rival who somehow becomes her uneasy ally. The story is packed with sharp banter, reluctant trust, and the slow, simmering heat of enemies-to-something-more. By the end, my heart was both shattered and hooked for the next book.
✨ My thoughts: This book is a perfect blend of romance and danger. I loved how Oraya’s strength comes from her humanity, not in spite of it. It gave me that curl-up-under-a-blanket-but-keep-biting-my-nails kind of feeling.B
Book 2 – The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King
If book one was about survival, book two is about power, betrayal, and the messy cost of love. Oraya’s world flips upside down — everything she thought she knew about loyalty, family, and destiny is tested. Now bound inextricably to Raihn (and to Nyaxia’s will), she’s not just fighting for herself but for a throne that could change everything.
The romance here deepens but also hurts more. Raihn and Oraya’s relationship is raw and complicated — full of trust issues, sharp edges, and stolen tenderness in between battles. The politics are heavier, the betrayals cut deeper, and the stakes? So much higher.
✨ My thoughts: This sequel had me holding my breath. It’s darker and more emotional than the first, but it kept me turning pages at night. Oraya is one of those heroines who lingers in your mind long after you finish, and Raihn? Let’s just say he’s the kind of character who makes you sigh and scream at the same time.
🌙 Final Thoughts
Reading the Nyaxia series so far feels like stepping into a gothic fairytale — equal parts romance, heartbreak, and deadly magic. It’s a story that asks how far we’ll go for survival, for love, and for power. If you like enemies-to-lovers, morally gray love interests, competitions with deadly stakes, and romance tangled in shadows, you’ll feel right at home here.
Rating: ☕☕☕☕/5 cups of tea (because I stayed up way too late reading both books).
